Archie
Hello everyone!
In late October I went into the shelter just to see what animals they had available and assured myself I would not be taking home any pets that day. A bunch of dogs had just come in hours prior from a high-kill shelter in the south and they were all sad, scared, neglected dogs in need of baths and good homes. As soon as I laid my eyes on Archie, I rushed over to the cage to see him. He had huge scabs on his sides and back from having fleas for so long and, although he is white in color, you would never have guessed it. I knew this poor dog must have had such a tough life so I expected him to be shy and maybe even a bit aggressive, but he was completely the opposite. As soon as I got to the cage he was jumping and reaching his little arms out in hopes I would get even closer. I looked at his little loving face and saw what unconditional love he wanted to offer and knew that if I didn't take this dog home and give him the life he deserved, I would always wonder what happened to that poor little dog. The volunteers told me I had to wait for Archie to be fully evaluated before I would be able to adopt him, so I went home and checked their web site every hour until I saw he was available.
Since he has come home with my boyfriend and me, he has been the happiest and sweetest dog in the entire world. His life consists of napping, playing with endless toys, and snuggling with mommy and daddy. I can't imagine my life without him and really believe that he was meant to be with us. Thank you for all the hard work and devotion that the volunteers and staff of MHHS put forth, because you guys make a difference with every animal you save.
Sincerely,
Nicole, Sean and Archie
