Hi from Artemis (previously known as Myra)!

I went home with my forever family on March 5th. I kind of knew that when I leaned my head up against my mom's hand when she walked by my kennel that day, I would get them interested. Did you know they used to swear they would NEVER get a pit bull?! Now my mom is a complete fan, even if I am giving her a run for her money.

I have lots of toys and Mom seems to be constantly looking for toys that are something called "pit bull friendly." Maybe because I spend a lot of time taking my toys apart? I am learning to sit and stay, and trying hard to stay closer to my people when they walk me, but there's so much to see! They also bought me a big cage -- Mom says I'm "crate training." She put she a nice comfy bed in there and I have special treats I only get when I sit in there. She tells me it's my castle so I am learning to trust her when she tells me to go in my crate.

Soon we are going to meet a lady that Mom says is a "trainer." She tells me the trainer will help her understand me better. Hmm.I have toys, and yummy food. (I've gained 15 lbs this month!) I get a bath with special soap that has made me stop itching and I get to sleep on soft stuff. She seems to understand me pretty well!

People who saw me when I first came home keep telling me I look great now, that I'm not skinny anymore and my fur looks nice and shiny. Some people cross the street when they see me and Mom just shakes her head and says they don't know dogs like me just have a bad rap because of bad people and they are missing out on a lot of love. She tells everyone how she used to think pit bulls were too much of a risk, but now she says "a girl's best friend is her pit bull!"
