Basil

My boyfriend and I made a trip to MHHS in the beginning of August in the hopes of adopting either a cat or dog. We weren't exactly sure what we wanted, so we were going to let the animal choose us. We spent around an hour at the shelter looking at almost every cat and dog until we laid our eyes on Rocky, the cat. She was a very inquisitive and playful tiger cat and we both fell in love right away.

Once arriving in her new home, she ran straight under the couch. I expected this and gave her some time to adjust to her surroundings. It has been about two weeks since we adopted Rocky and since then have renamed her Basil. Basil loves anything but cat toys. She will spend hours playing with a crumpled-up piece of paper or our feet. Because she is an indoor cat, we decided to buy a window perch for her to enjoy the outdoors from indoors and she absolutely loves it. She always greets us at the front door, cuddles with us in bed, and never fails to surprise us with her quirkiness.
