Casino
The first day I brought Casino home, he made a beeline to hide under my dresser and didn't want to come out. I decided to keep the door open in case he wanted to come out and wander around, and figured out he would do that if I was laying down. Anytime I stood up, he got scared (maybe the distrust of males the adoption volunteer said he might have). The first couple of nights were when he really ventured out and even jumped up on me to be petted for a few minutes, but he was skittish and didn't want to stay long. My other cat Delphi (who I renamed Ally since she was found in an alley) immediately was jumping all over him and running behind him. She even got one of her toys (the fishing pole thing with feathers on the end) and dragged it to the other room and dropped it next to him. The last couple days she's been sleeping next to him during the day under my couch (my previous cat's favorite spot) and he's been coming out more during the day.
Today at lunch I went home to play with them and take a nap. Ally was out for a while and eventually Casino came out of hiding and cuddled with me for a while. Before I left, for the first time, he wasn't scared when I stood up. I picked him up for the first time, and he hugged me and was scratching against my chin and giving me kisses. I put him on top of the cat tree I have and he kept reaching out to be hugged. I put Ally up there with him and they started playing. She's a real firecracker and will definitely keep him in line. I started taking a few pictures, but any with her get blurry because she won't sit still!
Thank you for taking good care of him and letting me adopt him. Like I said, I think I need him just as much (or more) than he needs me.
Mike
PS: I'm changing his name, but not sure to what -- Buddy or Scooter, maybe.
