Christoff
Hi, I'm Christoff!
My mommy and daddy saw me on the Humane Society web page and immediately fell in love. My mommy came to see me and she couldn't say no to my adorable face. She brought my new brother back to meet me.
We were friends at first sniff.
When my new mommy and daddy came back to bring me home I was so excited. I was sad to go, because everyone there was so nice to me. However, I knew my new family would love me like crazy. When I got home I was so excited. Mommy gave me toys and a big rawhide bone. I jumped on the bed and took a quick nap, then I explored the rest of the house. I have a new sister too, but she's a cat and boring. She is okay though. She watched me a bunch, but mostly we just looked at each other.
There were so many new smells and things to look at. After I got comfy with things, I got in this big tub and played under the shower. They put this stuff on me that made bubbles and smelled like green apples. They had this special brush they used on me. It's green and shaped like a puppy. It felt so good. It got a bunch of my itchy fur that was going to shed off and it gave me a MASSAGE! Can you believe it? Then they dried me off. When that was done they brushed me some more to make sure my fur didn't make me itchy. Then I got to go walking. They put on my blue boots, but Mommy didn't get them on tight enough the first time so they slipped off. She saw them slip off and fixed them. That time they stayed on really well. I think Mommy was scared she was going to hurt me the first time, but she got it the second time.
When we were done walking they gave me food. It was some old food and some new really tasty food. I ate a little and then it was time for bed. So I went and jumped on top if it. Mommy laughed and Daddy just shook his head. They had a bed for me, but it smelled weird. Mommy fixed it though. She rubbed a blanket all over me and put it on my bed. It made me know that the bed was mine and that I could lay on it. I curled up and fell asleep with dreams of chasing squirrels. What a great day!
Mommy added some pictures of me and my new bed and stuff. She also helped me type this email, because my paws were too big and clumsy to write this by myself. ;)
Update!
Hey. It's me again. Just wanted to let you all know how things were going. I love it here. My mommy and daddy are so nice. I have tons of love. I like to sit on the couch with my head in their lap while they rub my tummy, because who doesn't like a good tummy rub?! They brush me a lot to make sure that I don't shed. They also use this special brush that gets rid of a lot of my hair. It keeps me from getting hot. Mommy lets me watch Animal Cops with her. I like it. I get to see other animals and I get to see people that are mean to them get into the trouble they deserve.
They give me tons of treats. I am learning tricks. I know how to sit pretty well. Lay or down is a little bit harder. Sometimes it takes me a while. Next mommy is going to teach me shake. I like doing tricks, because I get treats or a new toy. I've discovered that I really like pig ears. They're really tasty. I also have a red rubber toy that they fill with peanut butter. I love it. Mommy gives them to me when I do a trick really well. I have two beds now - one that I sleep in and the other one I lay on when I want to watch television with mommy and daddy. It doesn't even include the guest bed or mommy and daddy's bed. They play with me a lot too. I don't fetch or run around, but I love catching my toys in my mouth when they throw them up into the air. It's fun. I have tons of toys. I really like this lamb. It's round like a ball and squeaks.
The other day they took me to the vet for a checkup. The doctor says that everything is going well and that my paws look okay, but he did give them some more ointment to put on them at night. I have new socks to go with my ones from when I was at MHHS. They're bright green with red and blue crabs on them. So they put the medicine on my paws and put my socks on. Then it's bedtime. The doctor also gave me a shot. It stung a little, but it's supposed to help keep me from getting the flu and getting sick. I also got treats that mommy only gives me once a month. It's to keep me from having bad things happen with my heart because of mosquitoes. I really like my new doctor. He's nice and gives me treats. I'm doing really well here with my new brother. We like to sleep together. I love my new family and am extremely happy. Mommy is going to bring me back to visit soon.
My mom wanted to write something too:
Christoff has truly been a blessing for us. He's absolutely wonderful and we couldn't be happier. We've found out that he loves pig ears. At first he was apprehensive and didn't understand, but he caught on and now his tail just spins in circles when he sees that you have one in your hand. We also have found that he loves to catch toys and treats from the air in his mouth. He'll spend hours doing it with you. He doesn't want to play fetch or chase though. We got a brush that gets the undercoat and thins it down so that he won't get hot. He seems to really like it. He still likes the normal brush, but he seems to love the new one. He loves it when we give him a peanut-butter-filled Kong. He'll sit there eating it until it's just as empty as can be. Then he'll walk over and kiss all over your face. He's doing great with the cat and the other dog. The cat just likes to watch him and the other dog loves to lay next to him with his head on his back or tummy. They do wonderfully walking together. He's eating wonderfully and did really well when we started blending the new and old food. We're just now switching to nothing but the new food and he's doing wonderfully. He's gained a little weight, but the vet says that he's doing great and it wouldn't hurt to gain another five pounds or so. We did find a really wonderful vet who does great with him. We got him a flu shot and checked on his paws. They're healing up really well, but the doctor wanted us to use something a little stronger than Neosporin. It's also anti-fungal, because fungus is part of the reason a few of his nails are deformed. He actually seems to love sleeping in socks. I think the added padding helps him because it ensures his paws keep from getting sore. He is truly a joy. He smiles all the time and his tail is always spinning in circles.
I want to say thank you all for the wonderful things that you all do. I can't imagine not having him as a part of our family now. You can tell that while he was at MHHS he was well loved and cared for. I know that you all may have been worried that because he was as old as he is that it was going to be hard to get him adopted, but he's a kid at heart and we couldn't love him any more than we do.
