Eddie and Fancy
Tracey Canty
My mom and I went to Mohawk Hudson Humane Society to see about adopting A.J., whom we saw online. One of our dogs, a black pit bull mix named Precious (affectionately known as Pup) died March 1, 2011 of sudden-onset kidney failure. It just came on out of nowhere and she was gone within an hour. She was only two years old and the smartest dog we'd ever owned (and we've owned a few). We were broken hearted and knew we wanted another dog but I told everyone let's wait awhile. Then I saw A.J. on the web site.
When we pulled up at Mohawk Hudson, a little brindle pit bull was in one of the outside kennels, looking at us with her head tilted sideways. Me and my mom fell in love with her. Her name was Mysterie because she'd been found wandering the streets of Albany and no one knew where she came from. She hadn't been spayed yet so we had to wait for her, but A.J. was all ready to go. We took him home that day, May 13th, and came back next Thursday to get Mysterie.
A.J. is now known as Eddie and Mysterie's new name is Fancy. At first Fancy seemed like a hand full -- very high strung, uneasy and anxious, not used to being inside around loving human beings. It took her two hours to sit down the first day we brought her home. Now she loves to lay around on anything soft, especially a lap. Fancy and A.J. love to play with each other and there's plenty of land for them to run amuck. I'm so happy I adopted my pets from Mohawk Hudson to give them a second chance.
