Mari

About two years ago I was devastated when my beloved cat Angel passed away after 14 years. I was very unsure about getting another pet because I did not want to go through the pain again. But I felt an ache in my heart and decided to try another kitty and see how I felt about it.

I looked at the cats at the shelter but never seemed to connect with any of them. But one day I was in the Latham Petco store and I decided to pass by to look to see what they had available for cats. There, looking at me through the window, was a black and white tuxedo cat they had named Astrid. She had similar markings to my Angel, but was black and white instead of grey and white as Angel was.

I opened the cage to pet her and she was very friendly. She flopped down on her side and rolled onto her back and was doing gymnastics for me. I fell in love with her right away. She had been abandoned outside the shelter and had been very sick. She also had patches of skin with no fur due to previous severe flea infestation, but the shelter had taken great care of her.

It has been two years and she has definitely become Daddy's little girl. Her fur has grown in beautifully, she loves to play and has endless energy. I renamed her Mari, short for Mariposa, which is Spanish for butterfly. I cannot imagine my life without her. She loves to sit with me and cuddle and is very affectionate and has lots of love to give.

I am so happy that I saw her that day and that she did her little gymnastics for me and stole my heart.
