Merlin
On September 23, 2011, we decided to go into your shelter in search of an elderly cat. We had just recently lost two of our beloved cats, a 19- and a 16-year-old, due to old age only months before. Our home felt so empty without the presence of another cat. We had seen a 10-year-old Ragdoll cat named Merlin on the website and fell in love.
Upon our arrival, we saw numerous cats who were sweet and beautiful, but Merlin was nowhere to be found. Just before we were about to leave, we looked in the back of a cage on the bottom row of the shelves, and saw a fluffy cat curled up in the back, hiding himself. It was Merlin.
We immediately asked to take him out, hoping he would be a good fit. As soon as he was placed at our feet, he began to nudge us and purr, and even tried to jump on my lap within seconds. I burst into tears; this cat reminded me so much of the pets we'd lost. "What are the chances?" I thought. It wasn't a full minute before we decided he was the one. We got him home, and he adjusted very quickly. The first night, he slept in my bed with me and hasn't spent a night away since. He was truly the perfect fit for our household.
I've attached some pictures of Merlin enjoying the good life, including ones of him and his new friend, our year-old Pittie, El Rey, who gets along with Merlin very well and doubles as a good cuddling partner.
I'd also like to take this opportunity to thank both the shelter and his original owners. It is obvious to me he missed his original owner very much, but hopefully the family who gave him up might see this and know that he is in a good home with a bed, another cat and a dog, and devoted people who love him very, very dearly. They did a good job; he's one of the best cats ever! And that purr! Sooo cute - he sounds like a little mourning dove.
Adopting Merlin was one of the greatest decisions we've made, and incredibly rewarding. He's a truly wonderful cat. Thank you so, so much.
