Pria and Luna
Hi,
Here is our Happy Tail. My older daughter suffered allergies to dogs many years ago and, sadly, we had to give our Saint Bernard to another family. Her allergies came on suddenly at the age of six and got worse, fast. She went through with immunotherapy and received two injections every week for two years. After that, we waited five more years to try owning a dog again.
We decided we wanted a rescue dog, and my husband said the only dogs he would not consider were tiny dogs and pit bulls. I pointed out that we already knew several pit bulls that we liked, he just didn't realize they were pit bulls! I told him about the wonderful Save a Bull program and he agreed to try with an open mind.
We found Princess, a beautiful Black Mask APBT. She was 11 months old and a nice fit for us. We renamed her Pria. She had lived in an apartment prior to us, and when we got her home, we realized that she may have never left the apartment. She was crazy! After a couple months of working with her, she was almost the perfect dog. She knows all commands, heels and doesn't jump on people or dogs. She will even sit with a piece of chicken in front of her and not touch until we command. She is so wonderful that we decided that 2 dogs would be better than one!
I saw a beautiful pitty, Blanca, just coming in. The next day, we all headed to MHHS, including Pria so she could have a say in the decision. My girls fell in love with Blanca. I was a bit reluctant at first because she was a pup, and I don't look forward to training pups, but she was great with the girls. Then, she met Pria out in the cage, and they hit it off, straight away. They played wonderfully together. We adopted Blanca and renamed her Luna.
We just can't imagine life without these two girls! They are the smartest, most well behaved and loyal pets we have ever owned. And two is better than one! They love each other, sleep together, play together, kiss each other and are careful not to hurt each other. We always get complements on our dogs' beauty, intelligence and behavior when we bring them out daily. We always talk about how resilient, loving, loyal and intelligent pit bulls are; they can overcome anything. And I always rave about the MHHS Save a Bull program!
Thank you for your work at MHHS, and all you do there to save these beautiful creatures. And thank you for our canine girls! They are a part of our family and they go everywhere we go...hiking, camping, canoeing, kayaking, swimming, etc. We love them dearly.
