Spot
When we came to the shelter about a month ago, it was to look at a different dog that my daughter had taken quite the liking to. Unfortunately for her, that dog didn't get along with our current dog. The nice folks there suggested a different dog and they were shocked when she didn't get along with our dog either. Since we thought our dog got along with everyone, we were getting a little discouraged. Then we tried Spot. He came trotting over to the meet-and-greet pen, barking the whole time, and all I could think about was how big and loud he was. I was very skeptical, but he got along with our current dog Delia right away and was great with the kids too. Despite my reservations, it was clear he was a great fit so we took him home.
Spot does need some work on his manners but has made some great strides already. The poor guy just can't control his excitement and when we say the word "walk" or "car ride," he just has to bark and bark and bark to let us know he is so happy! He is slowly learning how to ride in the car and walk without pulling (or barking), but I am confident we can make it work.
Spot and Delia love to play tug of war with anything they can find and just this morning I caught them playing tag in the driveway running around the cars! They are in total puppy love! Even our kids love to share their toys with him (you can see him cuddling up on their stuffed dog "Spot"). Thank you for the great advice - Spot is indeed a great fit for our family and we would have certainly overlooked him otherwise.
