Tauriel

I adopted Tauriel (then known as Mama) the day after Christmas. I remember sitting at my desk during the day, constantly refreshing the page that had the available cats, and watching as each of the cats I was interested in got adopted as the day went on. Mama's page only had her name, basic information and a picture of her. I fell in love with that picture immediately, but I didn't get my hopes up because I didn't know anything about her and I assumed she would have been adopted by the time I got to the Latham PetSmart that night.

When I walked into the adoption center, I was told that all but one of the cats had been adopted. To my relief, little Mama was waiting in her cage. As soon as I reached in to pet her, she stood and pinned my hand between her head and the top of the cage because she wanted someone to pet her so badly. I was told by the person in charge of the adoptions that she had not seen Mama do that for anyone else and that she was usually too shy and nervous to get off her perch to visit. I knew then that this little precious cat chose me to be her new kitty mom, and I signed the paperwork five minutes later.

Tauriel has been the sweetest little cat and companion that anyone could ask for. While she is still a little nervous around new animals, she shows none of that to new people. She constantly meows for attention and is not happy unless she is getting a good rough petting from whomever is in the room (the more hands the better). It's almost impossible to read or watch TV in bed without her laying on my chest, nose to nose with me asking for attention.

I am happy that she chose me (and let's face it, that is exactly what happened) to give her the second chance she needed. She has been with me every day for the last several months and I would prefer it no other way.
