Tootsie
We wanted to adopt a dog for some time and had been looking, but it just wasn't working out for us. Then Tootsie came along! It has been a little over a month since we adopted her and she has been such a joy and a great addition to our family.
We first saw her on the MHHS website and once we saw her picture we just had to meet her. We went to the shelter and as soon as we saw her, we fell in love.
When we adopted her we were told that she had been transferred from a shelter in Georgia, so we contacted that shelter to see if we could get a little more information on her. They told us that she had been in a shelter for three years with very little human attention due to the fact that most shelters in the south have hundreds of dogs at a time. They said that she was such a sweetheart and they wanted to see her get a home, so they decided to have her transferred in hopes that she would be adopted. (Thank God they transferred her to Menands, New York!)
They also told us that she was an escape artist! They said that Tootsie would jump a five-foot fence and go next door and steal the laundry off the neighbor's clothes line! This was actually humorous to us because the day before getting this information, we had put Tootsie into a room in our house while we were at work and put a baby gate up in the doorway so she would have her own space and not wander throughout the house. When we got home that night Tootsie was not in that room but the gate was still standing! It made us laugh because Tootsie is such a sweet little girl, you would never think she would jump gates or fences.
Tootsie has adjusted well into our home and our family; she and her and her brother Carter are becoming two peas in a pod! They are about the same age (6 years old) and love playing outside in the yard together. Both pups are giving us great joy, lots of love and lots of laughs! We could not have asked for a better addition to our family and we plan to continue spoiling her like crazy!
We would like to thank the volunteers and shelters for taking care of Tootsie until we were able to rescue her!
