Taffie
We went to the shelter in June 2009 looking for a small- to medium-sized dog. We looked at a few dogs but one dog caught our eye. Lady, a Shepherd-Husky mix, was just sitting there crying. My kids both said she is so cute, the poor thing is crying. The helpful volunteer told us that she was in Ohio and arrived at the shelter a few weeks ago. She warned us that she is very timid and slow to trust. We decided to take her out. She was very scared yet not aggressive at all. The volunteer warned us that she would take a while to warm up to our family.
Fast forward: it has been over a year and we are lucky to have such a wonderful dog. The kids always say we got the best dog in the shelter. We renamed her Taffie. She is so well trained. She hid under the table for a while and would only come out to eat or go outside. We knew in time she would warm up to us. Now she is always near us. She loves being around the family. She is very playful and funny to watch. She loves when the boys hug her. She is settled in her routine and is very happy. I tell my boys all the time we are lucky we went the shelter that day. I constantly tell people what a wonderful shelter the Mohawk Humane Society is. The staff takes wonderful care of the animals and provides a lot of information concerning the animals. Thank you bringing so much joy into our lives.
